Access Control¶
Who can use your WPSD device over the air. It’s on Radio > Access Control.
Private use¶
Each mode is private (only you) unless you change it: only your own callsign and ID can use the WPSD device over the air. That’s right for a personal WPSD device, it may be what your license requires, and it keeps other stations’ radios from keying your WPSD device by mistake.
The same switches are on each mode’s own page (for DMR, Private Node (self only)); changing one changes the other.
Devices and repeaters for other people¶
If you run a WPSD device for a club or family, or a repeater, turn private off for the modes others use. Then any station heard over the air can use it, like any other repeater.
A repeater also needs to be duplex (see Station, Modem and Radio), and, with more than one operator, may want RF Remote Control set up so that the keepers can shut it down from a radio.
Note
Some licenses don’t allow an unattended station to be open to everyone. Check yours before turning private off.
